Making a Difference Beyond the Classroom

High school is a season of growth. Students are discovering their strengths, exploring their passions, and learning how they can use their gifts to impact the world around them.

Community service gives students the opportunity to step outside themselves and experience the joy of helping others. Through meaningful service experiences, students learn that leadership is not just about being in charge. It is about noticing needs, taking action, and caring for others.

As students serve, they develop:

  • Compassion for people around them
  • Leadership skills
  • Responsibility and confidence
  • A deeper understanding of their community
  • A clearer sense of their passions and purpose

Service Opportunities at DSA

Each high school student completes at least 20 volunteer service hours each academic year, beginning on the first day of school and continuing through the last day.

Students at DSA serve with organizations such as:

  • Their local churches
  • Jenni's Rescue Ranch
  • Lunches of Love
  • Houston Food Bank
  • Sienna Branch Library
  • Divine Savior Academy athletics and school events
  • Operation Christmas Child
  • Blessing Bag outreach projects
  • Community Blood Drives
  • Barrington Farms
  • Volunteer coaching

Celebrating Service

By graduation, students complete a minimum of 80 service hours, and many go far beyond that requirement because they discover causes they are passionate about.

Students are recognized for their commitment through service milestones:

  • 80 hours
  • 100–149 hours
  • 150–199 hours
  • 200+ hours

At the heart of every service opportunity is the question:

How can I use the gifts God has given me to help others?

These experiences allow students to graduate with more than academic knowledge. They leave prepared to lead with compassion, make a meaningful difference, and practice the core value Lead With a Servant's Heart.

Service allows students to live out the example Jesus gave us:
