Shark Nation Comes Together for a Special Olympics Scrimmage

On Wednesday, February 4, Shark Nation experienced something truly special. DSA’s Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams took the court with our Divine Savior School athletes for a Special Olympics scrimmage. This game was about much more than basketball. The event brought the Divine Savior community together in a powerful way.

The goal was simple but important. DSA wanted to create a fun and welcoming experience where students of all abilities could play together, build friendships, and be part of a team. From the moment the DSS athletes walked into the gym with huge smiles, it was clear the goal had been reached. The gym was filled with cheers, excitement, and school pride.

The best moments were not about the score. They were the high-fives, the cheers after every play, and the celebrations after each basket, no matter who made it. The varsity players showed great leadership and kindness. They encouraged their teammates, adjusted their play, and made sure everyone felt included.

This game showed that winning is not just about points. It is about teamwork, friendship, and making everyone feel like they belong. After seeing how special this day was, it is clear that this has become a new yearly Shark Nation tradition!
