Tommy Welch joined DSA at the end of his high school career, and it was an entirely new experience for him. Arriving in Miami from Wisconsin during DSA’s earliest years, he entered a small but close-knit senior class. The year flew by, but the bonds formed were real. Hosting the student talent show, joining the basketball team, traveling with classmates on their senior trip, and witnessing two of his classmates being baptized all became meaningful memories of connection and growth.

After graduating in 2013, Tommy attended Martin Luther College, where he completed his undergraduate preparation for pastoral ministry, and then graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2022. The experience of stepping into a new community during his time at DSA helped prepare him for the next season of life. Today, he serves as the sole pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Michigan. His work ranges from preaching and pastoral care to extensive campus ministry with college students, guiding young adults as they navigate their faith, purpose, and community.

Life for Tommy is full and joyful. He and his wife are raising three children with a fourth on the way! They live near Lake Superior, where snowfall is measured by the hundreds of inches and outdoor adventures are part of the rhythm of life. Whether skiing with his family or supporting students in his college ministry, Tommy continues to build meaningful relationships through the people he encounters every day in his pastoral care.
