Admissions will schedule students for testing only after the application form and fee have been submitted with all supporting documents.
The following section explains the format of the test at each level:
- PreK-3 Applicants: Testing includes guided play and interactions, as well as experiences that allow us to observe the child’s fine and gross motor skills and development.
- PreK-4 and Kindergarten: Applicants are tested using the Bracken School Readiness Assessment that includes the observation of concepts related to colors, letters, numbering/counting, size/comparison, shapes, and more. The test also includes a social-emotional component and opportunities to demonstrate fine and gross motor skills.
- 1st through 12th grade: Applicants are tested in the areas of reading (early literacy skills for incoming 1st graders), writing, and mathematics.
An age-appropriate interview is conducted with all applicants as part of the application process.
